Julie TOURNIAIRE

About me.

I am an Assistant Professor (Maîtresse de conférences) at the Université de Franche-Comté, where I am part of the Probability and Statistics group – Laboratoire de Mathématiques de Besançon. I am also a member of the Stochastic Modelling in Ecology & Evolution group.

Before that, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Vienna, under the FWF Project Waves in Population Genetics led by Emmanuel Schertzer. I also spent two years as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow, at ISTA in the Evolutionary genetics group (Barton group).

I completed my Ph.D. at the École Polytechnique, CMAP, under the supervision of Pascal Maillard and Gaël Raoul. The manuscript of my thesis, entitled Spatial dynamic of interfaces in ecology: deterministic and stochastic models can be found here.

My research is in probability theory, focusing on microscopic models for front propagation (in particular branching systems) and their applications to ecology and population genetics. More generally, I am interested in the impact of structure on the genetic diversity of populations.

Besançon meeting on Probability, Ecology & Evolution 2024

We are excited to announce a one-day meeting in Besançon on December 10, centered on stochastic models in biology, with a particular emphasis on epidemic modelling, populations under selection, and genealogies in interacting populations. More details can be found here.

Registration deadline: 20 November 2024 – PosterRegistration

MMEE 2024

Zsofia Talyigas and I will chair a mini-symposium at the Mathematical Models in Ecology and Evolution (MMEE) conference (July 15-18, Vienna) on Branching processes as models for structured populations.
